Maine South Attorney General Forum 3/13

On Tuesday, March 13, voters can learn more about candidates for one of the highest-profile offices on the Illinois ballot this year, during an Illinois Attorney General Candidates Forum hosted by the Maine South High School chapter of the Junior State of America (JSA).

The forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the library at Maine South, located at 1111 South Dee Road in Park Ridge. Each candidate seeking a party nomination for Illinois Attorney General will give a 12- to 15-minute presentation and then will have 5 to 8 minutes for questions and answers. To date, seven candidates – Democrats Scott Drury, Sharon Fairley, Aaron Goldstein, Pat Quinn, Nancy Rotering and Jesse Ruiz, and Republican Erika Harold have signed on to participate.

Winners of the March 20 Democratic and Republican Primaries will appear on the November 6 General Election ballot, with the winner of that election succeeding Lisa Madigan, who has served as the state’s Attorney General since 2003. The Attorney General is the state’s chief legal officer, with responsibilities for advocating on behalf of Illinois residents; working with the General Assembly on legislation and litigating to ensure that state laws are adhered to.

JSA is a non-partisan political awareness and debate club, with more than 500 chapters in high schools across America (www.jsa.org).
