With that being said, we have submitted applications for permits for our March to be held at Union Park on March 24th, 2018. Union Park is located at 1501 W Randolph St, and is accessible by bus (77, X9, 9, X49, 49, 66), train (blue, pink or green line), car, or rideshare (Lyft will be offering free rides for attendees).
We chose Union Park over other locations in Downtown Chicago not only for size and accessibility, but because it is essential for us to stand with all communities that have been affected by gun violence. Union Park is in a family-friendly community environment, emblematic of the different issues Chicago faces. We want our rally and march to be the most intersectional and wide-reaching event in gun reform history. Chicago Public Schools has also used Union Park as a rallying place to host some of their Chicago Youth Service Days and peace rally.
For those who are concerned for safety and about coming to a neighborhood that is not the loop, our answer to this concern is that these are our neighborhoods, communities, and children we are marching for. We are committed to ensuring that this movement is to protect students in schools and communities everywhere — from Parkland to the South and West sides of Chicago. A life lost to gun violence is a life, too many. Our motto has been and will continue to be: In Chicago We March for Our Lives Everyday.
In Solidarity,
Your fellow Marchers
