- Summary of short discussion at the COW meeting on 2/20
- Alderperson Lefler stated that she would like to see IZ further studied as part of the Plan. Alderperson Steinfels asked Director Awsumb if there were any known policies that definitely do create more AH. The Director basically said that a mix of policies should help create more AH but there is not one that is fool proof. The City Attorney explained how the AH Goals are aspirational and meant to create favorable conditions for AH and are not measured unit by unit, but on an aggregate basis by looking at values and income.
- Comprehensive Plan
- PZC heard a presentation of o proposal to build 138 units on the AT&T site which is now the site of the Farmers Market on Prairie. It was for discussion only purposes. The commissioners were in agreement that the proposal was too dense for the location. Several, Chair Hanlon, Mills, Dallmeyer, and Paprocki commented that they would like to see AH as part of the proposal. This is a good step forward. Members of our committee will be asking PZC to be include specific language inviting and encouraging the creation of AH in Park Ridge. We will also ask that any proposed residential development include AH.

- Firsthand: Homeless Series Starts 2/19 I’m writing today to let you know that FIRSTHAND: HOMELESS is launching on Monday, February 19. The series is part of WTTW’s award-winning, multi-year initiative focusing on critical issues in Chicago. This is a continuation of the series in which I talked about segregation in the northern suburbs. Throughout 2024, WTTW will address the challenges, complexities, and hardships experienced by unhoused individuals in the Chicago area, and the search for possible solutions. More information is in the press release. At any time you're able, I hope you will visit wttw.com/firsthand where you’ll find the five short documentaries (watch the trailer), four expert talks, a companion discussion guide, text and visual journalism, and special WTTW News coverage. This series follows up very nicely from our meeting about homeless individuals in Park Ridge. I hope many of you will check it out. If there's interest, we could plan a discussion for later this spring. Nan
