Action Ridge meeting - 2/13/2025Topic: The First Month of the New Administration: What have We Learned and HowCan We Deal with These New Policies?

Discussion notes following hispresentation:

 

Areas of most concern as expressedby attendees:

 

1. No one convicted of a felony(Trump) should be elected president. It is important that Trump not run forVice President in 2028 - With Vance as the possible presidential candidate.

 

2. It is important that we continueto contact our senators and representatives and thank them for fighting theTrump/Musk agenda.

 

3. Remember that the states, not thefederal government, run elections. It is Important to monitor what the Congressdoes with future state election results.

 

4. Monitor the power and value ofTrump’s future executive orders.

 

5. Locally - look for candidates representthe Action Ridge Mission Statement. Remember local elections are the foundationof our democracy.

 

6. Encourage young people to become interestedand engaged in politics (documentaries, videos). They need to be aware of theirrights which might be at stake.

 

7. All people should be involved inour political activities - retired folks and middle aged people.

 

8. All of us should be ACTIVE - notjust talking about the issues.

 

9. Another organization that wemight join is Indivisible Chicago - part of a national Organization. We shoulddevelop a Project 2029 addressing all our issues.

 

10. Use our pocketbooks - boycottgroups that support Trump and his agenda.

 

11. February 28thh is SHOP LOCALLYDAY.

 

12. Boycott organizations that aredropping the DEI agenda.

 

13. February 17th is “Not MyPresident Day.” There will be a demonstration at Federal Plaza, Chicago, at 12noon.

 

14. Distribute the small cards thathave been made which educate people about the Truths related to Immigration.
